About Athedian...

Athedian has been designing websites ever since the year 1999. In the beginning, he worked on his first website through Geocities' PageBuilder. The tool was slow and clumsy but it got the work done. It had a drag-and-drop interface that provided only the basic tools needed for a beginner to design an online webpage for others to see. At the time, Athedian was using the dial-up Internet Service with a maximum speed of 56kps. Uploading an image to the Page Builder would take three to ten minutes. Previewing a page would take up to five minutes to load. It was a wonder that he was able to create a website with such slow speed and efficiency.

Around the time of the Y2K fear that threatened the sanity of many people (most of the faults lied with mass media that tended to fuel terror in order to gain the best ratings on their networks), Athedian transferred to a better connection. There he worked on his second website on Freewebs utilizing static HTML code to place layout images around the page. Such technique could only work on a fixed screen resolution of 800x600. Anything bigger or smaller would displace the images completely, rendering the site messy and incoherent. Real Goldeneye site, again in Geocities, was developed in year 2000. It was designed for the famous Goldeneye on Nintendo 64. Lots of plans were made to have the most amount of contents available for this amazing game. Alas, the site became too disorganized to have a focus. It was then left to die after a year.

Around 2002 Athedian took a course of Information Technology in high school to learn more about computer coding basics. There, he learned a somewhat more advanced HTML coding that could allow him to create pages with a more robust layout. He also learned Photoshop skills from his friends in order to create his own images and artwork. The World Is Not Enough 64 site hosted at Geocities again was then built with the help of a friend. The creation of frames allowed Athedian to develop pages faster than before without the need to change links constantly. Unfortunately due to the lack of time, the site was taken offline and pieces of code were stripped to be used somewhere in the future. The Fictiondotnet site at Greatnow server started out decently but badly. Firstly, the layout design was messy. It lacked focus. Secondly, there were too many ads popping up. Adding onto the lowest point of his life in the year of 2003, the site was up running and died within months.

Learning more about basic javascript and HTML coding in 2003-2004, Athedian decided to start up a personal site in much smaller scale. It would feature better layout, better coding structure, and better contents that would be easy to update and keep track of. Dream Portal, created in 2005, was the next project. It was much smaller in scale and had the MIDI soundtracks that Athedian had created. Everything was going nicely. Updates were constant. However, school and work soon catched up to him and devoured most of his free time. In 2006, the site was never updated again. Followed the last failure, Haven Chronicles at Topcities was a prototype of a faster and easier navigation website that was never opened to the public. Again, due to the lack of time the project had to be scrapped.

So here we are today, at Valice server. Athedian had finally ressurected the obliterated dream of having a personal site where he could update his progress in life. After taking down the old layout that was overly simple, he had designed a whole new look to the site. Yes. It had been one excuse after another. It was apparent that the webmaster never really had the heart to keep a site alive and going. It was more of a lack of interest that had pulled him away from web designing all these years. One dead site after another, it seems as if the webmaster never cared. But hopefully with this new website, he can update new MIDI soundtracks and stories that he has been working on for the last two years. The third version of the site layout fully utilizes Cascade Style-Sheet and the div tags. Although it is a difficult task to get everything aligned properly, it is time for Athedian to code HTML website properly.

Taken the main alien race in his upcoming novel, "Atrona Deep", Athedian's avatar (to the left) is his main representation online.
